Equally at home onstage as an artist, or backstage as one of the world’s most in-demand live show designers, Laura Escudé is at the forefront of music technology. Listed among her accomplishments, Laura has both performed with and programmed for Kanye West & Jay Z, designed shows for American Idol, Herbie Hancock and Porter Robinson, and opened for Miguel and Garbage. Escudé was the world’s first Ableton Certified Trainer in 2008, and the first to implement the software in some of the most prestigious live shows around the world.
Escudé’s performance is a fully integrated audio-visual spectacle that melds violin and ambrosial vocals with custom controllers and real time lighting effects. Escudé works as a one-woman orchestra, creating captivating and cinematic auditory moments while conducting intricate projections via custom software utilizing the Unreal engine, a suite of real-time 3D tools used by top musical artists. As she performs, Escude expertly “conducts” this Unreal engine using her controllers and violin to create truly astonishing results. It is an honest, emotive spectacle of light and sound rendered in state-of-the-art machinery played by a woman with an intimate understanding of these complex tools.
